Who are NBSL?

NBSL is a BIS approved Enterprise Agency and works to assist pre-start, new and existing business by providing information, advice and support on running and developing a business.

Pre-start service is delivered through our network of high-street Business Advice Centres which house dedicated staff to help you with the challenges you may face when starting up and running your business; at no cost to you provided you live in Northumberland. In addition to our high street locations we also offer our pre-start service at ‘outreach’ centres throughout Northumberland. Click here for more information.

The Leadership and Management team work with existing businesses throughout the North East and will meet you at one of our Business Advice Centres or come to you at your premises.  Find out more.

NBSL are approved by BISCustomer FirstInvestors in People and we have a skilled, experienced, SFEDI accredited team of Advisers with whom you can work confidentially.

NBSL provide a range of free pre- business start-up and business support solutions including:

  • Guidance and development for individuals considering self-employment
  • Business skills development if you are about to, or have recently, set up in business and worked with us prior to starting up.
  • Development of skills to help you to get your new business running
  • Identification of finance (including grants and loans) that may be available for your business
  • A specialist ‘Social Enterprise’ Adviser is also available to provide help and support.
  • Leadership and management skills development for your most senior member of staff
  • We are currently building a bank of business mentors who may be able to provide you with that extra bit of support.

Our Advisers are experienced and either hold SFEDI accreditation or are working toward it. Our customer services team hold IAG (Information Advice and Guidance) accreditation or are working toward it.
