New Business Aims for Awards and Rosettes

Jennifer Phizacklea was a very keen horsewoman until a back injury prevented her from competing competitively. Despite this set back Jennifer remained involved in the equestrian scene and became secretary of the Newcastle Riding Club. Due to her injury Jennifer was also unable to participate in any of the heavy duties involved with keeping horses, but missing the life and the contacts Jennifer came up with the idea of starting a business she do from home.

With this in mind Jennifer contacted NBSL (Northumberland Business Service Ltd) at their Business Advice Centre in Morpeth. With the assistance of Enterprise Coach Eddie Dickinson, Jennifer looked at her options which were somewhat limited due to her injury. Eddie explains "Jennifer and I worked together on her options discounting any proposals which could aggravate her condition.

Taking her skills into consideration Jennifer came up with the idea of designing and manufacturing rosettes and banners for awards in the equestrian sector. With this as her base idea to ensure Jennifer's business would be viable we evolved her ideas to broaden the customer base to include all sorts of awards for other forms of celebration or event".

Jennifer commenced trading as 'Jumping Jack Rosettes' in the utumn of 2009. With a wide range of products available and prices to suit all budgets 'Jumping Jack' has really taken off. They also able to custom design products to suit individual customer requirements. Talking about her experiences on her enterprise journey, Jennifer said "When I first came to NBSL I had no real idea of how I could become self employed and run my own business. NBSL provided valuable advice and encouraged me to believe that I could make a success of my business".
