Archer Building Services hits the Target

Archer Building Services from Blyth is the idea of local man Cyril Fell. Cyril, a time served joiner, built up over 40 years experience in the building trade and has a very much hands on approach to his work but sadly recently found himself redundant.

Although he had no previous experience of self employment Cyril decided to explore the route of being his own boss in order to assist him in the development of his ideas and skills Cyril approached his local enterprise agency NBSL. Cyril was one of the first clients to be offered assistance by NBSL on his enterprise journey under the 'Putting Enterprise into Place Programme' known as PEIP (part funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) 2007-2013).

With the assistance of his Enterprise Coach Shak Ahmed, Cyril was given one to one advice and guidance on available funding and encouraged to develop a business plan which included market research, operational issues, financial forecasting and forward planning. Cyril also attended one of the many workshops on offer through NBSL to help him develop his business skills. Cyril stated "I couldn't have done this on my own, the help I received from NBSL was most beneficial especially the financial planning and forecasting. This enabled me to gain a more accurate grasp of how future workloads would affect my business".
