St James’ Park was the venue for a recent event hosted by NBSL to present their Leadership and Management programme to clients looking to grow and develop their businesses. NBSL is a D-BIS (Department of Business, Innovation and Skills) approved and regulated Local Enterprise Agency and over the last eight years the organisation has delivered the North East’s Leadership & Management Advisory Service, funded by D-BIS’s Skills Funding Agency. Under NBSL this programme has gone from strength to strength, engaging directly with more than 1,000 SMEs each year.

NBSL has secured ERDF investment of £2.38 million to continue to deliver support to the North East’s private sector businesses employing between 2 – 249 employees, and funding is still available which provides grant support of up to £1,000 for business leaders who need coaching for growth.

The event was attended by a variety of North East based entrepreneurs and the keynote speaker was Paul Edwards of Edwards Commercial Cleaning Ltd who delivered an impassioned talk to explain how his business had benefitted from the L & M programme and is now on target to expand into new markets in 2012.

Malcolm Gallagher the well known marketer delivered a mini master class to delegates which was packed with tips on how to remain competitive in the current challenging economic environment. He encouraged business leaders to be positive and to embrace the opportunities in the market place by developing broader horizons and looking to expand out of their comfort zones.

A wide variety of North East based businesses have taken advantage of the programme which has delivered some excellent results and feedback has been superb. Clients who have been supported have said that the application process is ‘simple, quick and painless’ and have urged other businesses most strongly, to use the service.
NBSL still has limited funding available to support businesses, so if you would like to benefit from grant funding of up to £1,000 towards the cost of developing a growth strategy for your business, contact NBSL now on 01670 813322 or click here to complete our online application form.
